One of the biggest misconceptions I hear the most from women who are considering to start training with weights is the myth, that if a regular feminine woman dares to engage in resistant weight training they will grow bigger muscles then a bodybuilder and look muscular and unattractive.
This is "bullshit" excuse my French but you have to call a spade a spade and this is one of those statements that is for far from the truth that it annoys the heck out of me. Not only does it annoy the pants of me as a personal trainer it's a ugly stereotype that is keeping too many women from the benefits and rewards that weightlifting offers.
My future women weightlifters lets bound together and put theses fears and uncertainty to sleep the fact of the matter is that women who lift weights will not suddenly over night grow 16 inch biceps and 28 inch quadriceps.
Studies show that many women who have been lifting weights for a considerable amount of time have reported large amount of weight loss, a more stronger leaner and well sculpted body with a higher level of energy expenditure.
Moral of the story is that resistant training can benefit both the man and woman in all aspect of their lives so women make sure you pick up a dumbbell when you next visit your gym.
